What does Advent mean for you?
Advent is a time of waiting, of anticipation, to prepare for the celebration of Christmas. If I am honest, rather than a time of waiting, it is a time normally smothered with extra busyness, more spending and an anxiety about getting more things done.
So, with this in mind, we have put together an R&R Advent Challenge to help people get some space for reflection during the party season.
The challenge is to carve out time every day between the 1st December and the Christmas Eve for 10 minutes of silence, reading, reflection and prayer.
On the link below you can download a simple, two page sheet which contains 24 days worth of readings and reflections. They are all based on Jesus’ words and actions in the gospels.
In true Resistance & Renewal style, the reflections are grouped in pairs; the ones on the left in orange focus on the destructive values we should resist, and the ones on the right in green are those values which bring renewal to us and the world around us.
Can you give 10 minutes a day for the 24 days of Advent? Are you up for the challenge?

We hope it helps you have a bit of R&R this Advent.

I am finding this resource very helpful. Thank you for refocusing me on the gospels at this time – rather than making a lot of material preparations for my family Christmas, you’ve inspired me to pray for us to know God’s love instead
