Antonio’s life had been the grip of an addiction which had taken his resources, destroyed his relationships and left him cold and alone on the streets. His identity lacked dignity and any positive self-worth. As he says:
‘It turned me into a person I was never meant to me’
Recovery
But from this rock bottom, he found a path of restoration and recovery. The resource of accommodation led to the renewing of positive and encouraging relationships. And from this, Antonio has found answers to his deepest questions:
‘I didn’t see how I could be loved by God as I had turned into not a nice person…I came to a realisation, in all the madness, that this is surely not my worth. Surely I must be destined for something a little better?
As you can see, today Antonio’s life is very different. He is now serving others, working for his church and providing people with vital practical resources. He is an integral part of his church community and is shortly be moving on into his own flat.
‘Hope into Action has provided me with a home, a hope and a future…I have a worth I didn’t have before.’
Empowering people on this journey is what Hope into Action is all about.
